Comparing yourself to others can become almost addictive. What starts out as inspiration, can quickly turn into something more toxic and before you know it, you’re accusing your body for what it isn’t, instead of praising your body for what it is.
The first step to self-love is to stop the comparison. This might mean limiting your social media time every day or simply unfollowing people you tend to compare yourself to. It might mean asking a friend to keep you accountable when you start to say bad things about your body or keeping out of any conversations with friends who tend to compare their own bodies.
Too often, we get caught up with the numbers and losing weight that we forget to give our body love and listen to when we are doing things that make us feel good. Don’t let the scales determine the way you live your life or the way you carry yourself in your life.
do what makes you feel good
When the focus becomes on doing things to make us look good, we ignore doing the things that make us feel good which is fundamentally more important. Take a look at how you are eating, exercising or simply just spending your free time. Are you spending your time eating foods that energise you and make your body feel amazing? Are you exercising to give yourself an extra boost of happiness and energy through your day? Are you taking the time to be grateful for your body and what it does for you?
If you can’t say yes to one or more of these things, it’s time to take some action and do things that feed love into your body and soul. Eat good that is healthy, yet that you enjoy, try out yoga or go out for more walks.
